The toll is very heavy: 10 dead including 5 children aged 3 to 15 years. During the night of Thursday to Friday, December 16, a fire broke out in an apartment building, in the heart of the Mas du Taureau district in Vaulx-en-Velin. The vital prognosis of 4 seriously injured people is no longer engaged.
Mass for the victims of the fire and their families is organized this Saturday, December 17 at 11 a.m. at the Saint-Thomas church in Vaulx-en-Velin. Mayor Hélène Geoffroy, visibly very moved, is present alongside relatives. Many people are present in the pews of the Church.
In the followingmath of the tragedy, the municipality is organizing a rally at 3:00 p.m. this Saturday, December 17. This moment of meditation will take place in front of the town hall of Vaulx-en-Velin, place de la Nation. At the reception of the Town Hall, a book of condolences has been made available to the public.
“I extend my deepest condolences to the families of the victims and their loved ones. I assure the inhabitants of the burned building of our full support,” wrote the mayor of Vaulx-en-Velin Hélène Geoffroy.
