Deadline notification: Media campaign “Red entrepreneurs: raise the alarm”

SWV presents demands to ensure the survival of small businesses

Vienna (OTS) The Austrian Social Democratic Business Association (SWV) cordially invites media representatives to a media campaign in public space. SWV President Christoph Matznetter presents the current spring campaign “Self-employed? Yes of course!”.

A mood of crisis has prevailed in Austria for more than three years: After the pandemic and the Ukraine war, Austrian entrepreneurs are plagued by immense inflation. Small and medium-sized enterprises suffer particularly badly. In many cases, the rate of inflation for these is well above general inflation. Price increases of more than 400% for gas or 250% for electricity are not uncommon in sectors such as gastronomy. The partial amounts to be paid have literally exploded. At the same time, the measures taken by the government, such as the energy cost subsidy, are hardly ever received, and if they are, they are very delayed and involve a great deal of bureaucracy. The indexation of rents and the massive increase in the cost of goods continue to increase the cost pressure. For SMEs and EPUs in particular, it is practically impossible to pass on the entire increase in costs, a circumstance that leads to considerable financial hardship. The self-employed are also disadvantaged in the area of social security, whether it is sick pay or unemployment insurance – an intolerable situation.

In its current spring campaign, SWV Austria is entirely dedicated to these urgent problems. The need for action is acute and therefore the SWV Austria will present a package of demands to ensure the survival of self-employed entrepreneurs.
