Finally Death Metal from the land of tulips and fried foods once more!
Already at the start in 2013, the trio has only been able to release one EP and one split so far. With their penchant for relevant zombie films, the Dutch celebrate Dead Will Walk now their EP A New Day Of Dawning and take us on a morbid journey into the world of the undead.
On the trail of the undead
The six-song EP stands for merciless old school death metal that leaves no room for great experiments. The subject matter and the cover design are reminiscent of legendary horror classics, such as A zombie was hanging from the bell rope, Dawn of the Dead and Stephen Kings Creephow. Above all, the atmospheric cover chosen by the band evokes associations with creepy feelings of the past. Who doesn’t like to look back on secretly watching the old Video 2000 tapes in their parents’ living room; back when the fear of film was just as great as being caught by parents.
Dutch death metal guild
Musically, the Dutch trio focuses on death metal, which is equipped with deep-tuned guitar riffs and an unmistakable groove. Also melodic inserts don’t come up short, so their death lead doesn’t seem too dull and the tracks get stuck in the ear canal. In terms of the quality of the EP, the swinging opener immediately catches my eye Raise the Horde convince. Strong growling and well thought-out songwriting result in a tasty stew that any genre fan will probably enjoy.
sound from hell
So that you can taste the album’s groove, I’ll serve you the steamy-rolling one Day of Dawning. You can check out the track HERE incorporate. This track is also my absolute highlight and has been in constant rotation for days.
The sound of the EP is earthy and bursting with dirt and you can literally smell the undead passing by. Now it’s time for an album, friends of the night!
Conclusion
Dead Will Walk have with me A New Day Of Dawning clever and convince with authentic Old School Death Metal. Musically, the trio is at it’s best and the songs are consistently a bank. This EP has all the attributes that I wish for as an old warhorse: brutality, musicality and death. Hence there are smooth 9 / 10
