The IGN channel has published another video with the developers of the remake Dead Space. Much attention was paid to the evolution of the survival horror genre and the ever-increasing immersiveness, which will become much more in the new version of the game.
The developers are happy to send Isaac to the very center of events and let him personally touch and feel the weight of each important moment of the plot. According to them, many scenes were originally intended to be done in this way, but due to technical limitations, they had to just throw these ideas in the trash right away. Now technology has stepped far forward and there is no more reason to hold back.
Previously, the developers gave an example of reworking the scene of the first transformation, in which the new approach is very clearly visible.
There was also a lot of talk regarding the sources of inspiration that influenced both the original game and the remake. Resident Evil 4 became a game prototype, but a lot was inspired by horror films. “Alien”, “The Thing” and “Across the Horizon” made a particularly big contribution to the development of Dead Space.
They also talked regarding other important elements that will help create a terrifying atmosphere and are available thanks to modern technology. First, it’s a cool realistic fog. Which always gives bonus points to horror. Monsters can really get lost or emerge from the whiteout, creating very creepy scenes. We also paid attention to the balance of light and dark, which now works much better.
