Dead Space Remake sequel in the hands of EA while developers have “ideas”

The Dead Space remake is here, and it’s garnered a lot of praise for its faithful yet evolved take on the classic 2008 horror game. As the dust settles and EA Motive gets a well-deserved break, some of the studio’s developers have talked about plans. futures for the series and how they plan to meet with EA to discuss the future of Dead Space.

EA Motive developers Phil Ducharme (Senior Producer) and Roman Campos-Oriola (Creative Director) spoke to GQ about the team’s work on Dead Space Remake, and the discussions about the studio’s future plans for all things Ishimura turned out to be quite lively. interesting.

It is certainly a hope that we have”, says Phil Ducharme. “There is interest on my side and I think on Roman’s side, you can see his smile, in exploring more Dead Space. There are ideas, that’s for sure. We’re wrapping up this week, we’ll make sure that release goes smoothly with as few glitches as possible. We’ll go on vacation and then we’ll sit down and have those discussions within EA to say, ‘Well, what’s next?’” he told GQ.

If Dead Space Remake meets EA’s internal expectations, which we don’t know about, it wouldn’t be surprising to hear that a sequel is on the way at some point. EA Motive also has a unique opportunity where it could follow the original Visceral Games storyline and bring protagonist Isaac Clarke to The Sprawl and then Tau Volantis, but I hope they at least keep the survival horror vibe.

If EA Motive sticks to pure horror for potential Dead Space Remake sequels, I actually wouldn’t mind if they tried something completely new. You can still play the original trilogy easily, and while I’d love to explore a complete revamp of The Sprawl, I’d generally prefer something new.

Without spoiling too much, Dead Space Remake’s ending is actually packed with two options, with the new one potentially pointing towards some changes. That being said, nothing is confirmed at this stage and it could easily be incorporated into the original Dead Space 2, should EA Motive decide to go that route. However, you’ll need to familiarize yourself with Dead Space Remake’s new Plus game mode to see this secret ending.
