The public prosecutor’s office in Brussels announced on Thursday that a man was discovered dead in his vehicle on Wednesday evening at the intersection of Avenue de Tervueren and Boulevard de la Woluwe in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre. It is believed that he may have been shot, and authorities have opened a murder investigation. Witnesses reported a second vehicle being involved and shots being fired. Emergency services attempted to revive the driver, but unfortunately confirmed his death. A judicial perimeter was established to protect evidence for the investigation. The Deputy Crown Prosecutor ordered the initial investigative tasks, including witness statements, reviewing CCTV footage, and the involvement of the Federal Judicial Police laboratory. After trying to resuscitate the driver, they might only confirm his death. A judicial exclusion perimeter was then set up in order to preserve the traces useful to the investigation.
The Deputy Crown Prosecutor ordered the first investigative duties, namely the hearing of witnesses, the viewing of CCTV camera images and the intervention of the laboratory of the Federal Judicial Police“, continued the prosecution. An investigating judge was required to investigate the murder charge. She descended on the scene in the presence of the prosecution, the forensic doctor and the ballistics expert.
