The Kickstarter campaign will begin on March 29 for Dead By Daylight: The Board Game.
Adaptations of video games into board games are popular at the moment. After the now cult Orlog game from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla adapted as a tabletop game thanks to Kickstarter, it seems that another video game has the right to its adaptation. This game is none other than Dead By Daylight.
When we say board game, we do not directly think of the game developed by Behavior Interactive. And yet, we learned on Wednesday that the table game designer Level 99 was currently working on an adaptation of a famous survival game.
Entitled Dead By Daylight: The Board Game, the game will use more or less the same mechanics as in the video game version. Playable for up to five players, the game will pit two teams once morest each other, one made up of 4 survivors and another in which only the killer acts. The 4 players will have to survive by slowing down the killer and activating generators, while the killer will have the mission to lay traps for his victims and eliminate them.
“As fans of the original video game, we’ve worked hard to capture the tension between the Survivors and the Killer at every turn”said board game designer D. Brad Talton Jr. in a press release. “The moment when you’re regarding to take your turn and then have to hold your breath while the Slayer takes his turn – to me, that’s the essence of Dead by Daylight.”
For their part, the developers of the original game are delighted with such an adaptation, while the second opus is still expected on consoles.
“I’m probably the biggest board game nerd I know and Dead by Daylight: The Board Game is simply an amazing experience. […] When we were presented with this project, we were all impressed and excited”added Mathieu Côté, Game Director, Dead by Daylight. “Level 99 managed to adapt the Dead by Daylight experience perfectly to a board game: the asymmetrical Killers VS Survivors gameplay, the unexpected surprises, the game loops, it’s all there. And with almost all the original characters present […].”
Two editions are already announced. The standard edition includes 6 killers, 7 survivors, and 2 maps and will cost $49.99. The Collector’s Edition, meanwhile, includes 16 killers, 17 survivors, and 4 maps, for a price of $99.99. The fundraising campaign will begin on Kickstarter on March 29.
