“Dead Body Found in Charleroi Airport Parking Lot: Investigation Launched”

A Spaniard in his fifties was found dead in a car parked for several months in the Express parking lot at Charleroi airport (BSCA), Sudinfo indicates in its columns. This information is confirmed by the prosecution, where a file has been opened and an investigation has been launched.

It was apparently the parking surveillance service that became concerned regarding a car registered abroad which was gathering dust without moving in a parking space: inside, behind tinted windows, a corpse. The man, of Spanish origin, has been dead for several months. “But the autopsy revealed nothing that might help the investigators”reports the prosecution this Wednesday morning, without wanting to comment further on the facts.

The body of a man, deceased since January, found in the parking lot of Charleroi Airport

According to our research, the procedure in the event of a suspicious death of a foreign national foresees that an investigation takes place to determine the identity of the person as well as the reasons for the death. If the identity is established with certainty, contact is then made by the Belgian authorities with the family of the deceased, for a formal identification or questions to the relatives in order to try to answer a series of questions raised by the investigation. In particular, we imagine it here: how might this man have stayed so long without an alert being raised? In any case, if it is indeed a Spanish national, the Hispanic consular services will also be contacted immediately. But the investigation should be conducted, a priori, only on the Belgian side.
