De Bruyne scores a goal in the style of the Flying Dutchman Van Persie

England – Belgian star Kevin De Bruyne contributed to his Manchester City team’s massive victory over its host Brighton (4-0) in the match that brought them together yesterday, Thursday, in the postponed 29th round of the English Premier League.

Belgian star Kevin De Bruyne scored the lead goal for Manchester City early in the 17th minute of the first half, with a wonderful header.

De Bruyne’s goal came in a similar way to the legendary goal scored by the Flying Dutchman Robin van Persie against the legendary Iker Casillas, the Spanish national team goalkeeper, on June 13, 2014, in the opening match of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, when Dutchman Daley Blind converted a cross from the middle of the field to his colleague. The flying striker, swimming in the air, followed it into his net over Casillas’ head.

Van Persie led his country to overturn a goal deficit to win by five goals to one over the defending champion, and the Dutch team responded after losing by a single goal in the final match of the World Cup in South Africa in 2010, at the hands of the Spanish team in particular.

The Flying Dutchman expressed his great happiness with the victory, in a television interview after the match, saying: “It is unbelievable, for all the Dutch. The dream has come true. I cannot explain what happened, but it is a wonderful thing.”

Robin van Persie announced his retirement from football with his Dutch team, Feyenoord, in mid-May 2019, after a football career full of achievements.

The Flying Dutchman striker won the Golden Boot award twice in the English Premier League, and was famous for his beautiful goals during his career. He scored one of the most beautiful goals in the history of football, against the Spanish national team, in the group stage of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Van Persie also won many team titles during his career, most notably the English Premier League title with Manchester United, the FA Cup with Arsenal, in addition to the League Cup with the “Red Devils” and “Gunners,” and the European Cup with Feyenoord.

During his football career, Robin van Persie participated in 597 matches with clubs and the Dutch national team, scoring 324 goals and making 98 goals.
