POP-acoustic group D’Cinnamons releases a new single titled Bukan Salah Kopi. The single also features guitar playing from fingerstyle maestro Jubing Kristianto.
“This song was inspired by a moment in a small coffee shop in Bandung. The chairs were not spaced apart, making the visitors inevitably able to hear the conversation of the ‘seat’ next to them. And inevitably, they were finally tempted to interact with each other,” wrote D’Cinnamons in an official statement.
The song Bukan Salah Kopi was written from the inspiration when vocalist and guitarist Diana Widoera (Dodo) went to a small coffee shop and the experience lingered in her mind until it led to the birth of a song.
The simple coffee shop that does not provide sofas and wi-fi actually brings warmth that encourages its visitors to interact.

“But what happened was that behind this simplicity, coffee is not just about taste, place, and internet. But it awakens the most basic human calling, namely the call to socialize,” said Dodo.
Dodo further instills that the essence of human beings is to interact with each other. Coffee can be a means of uniting people from various backgrounds into warm conversations.
“Why did we agree to give the title Bukan Salah Kopi? Because it turns out that what makes coffee feel warm is not from the coffee, but from human interaction. No matter where we sip coffee, no matter how luxurious or simple the place we ‘drink coffee’, it will still feel warm and delicious if there is interaction. Either with the closest people, or even with people we just met,” continued bassist Riana Mayasari.

Jubing Kristianto, who is a collaborator, also agrees with the essence of communication and human social life which is often overlooked.
Through this song, Jubing hopes that there will be warmth present for us to continue to maintain our social life, at least through greetings and salutations.
“Listening to this song brings a feeling of comfort, warmth, and intimacy. It feels like hugging old memories. The lyrics are also enlightening, reminding us not to forget to talk or just say hello to our family or friends.”
“Through this single, D’Cinnamons also gave me a new experience. Usually when helping to fill in the music for a recording, I play the guitar in the song. However, this is the first time I was given the opportunity to make a short composition to be played at the end of the song. What will it be like? Let’s listen!” said Jubing. (Z-1)
