Women’s sport should play a special role in this!

DAZN recently launched channels via Waipu (DAZN FAST) and Samsung TV Plus (DAZN FAST+). These are free-to-air digital linear channels funded by . There, DAZN shows documentaries, highlights, feature films, shows and recorded sporting events. Mascia explains: “With FAST and FAST+ we have introduced the first free-to-air and free DAZN offer.”

Women’s sports will soon be promoted in this way. Mascia says: “There is a lot of interest in our FAST Channels, so we will be communicating further partnerships in the coming months. And quite specifically, for example, we want to start a FAST channel soon that is exclusively dedicated to women’s sports.”

The DAZN boss explains the reasons for this as follows: “Women’s sport inspires me very much – and increasingly so does the audience who is ready for new heroines. The growth figures of women’s football are impressive. For this reason, we have not only invested in the Women’s Champions League, but will also be showing the Women’s Bundesliga from the coming season.”

Most recently, DAZN was criticized for massive price increases. Mascia also commented on this in the interview with “DWDL”.

She said: “Like many other companies looking to disrupt the market, DAZN deliberately went for a low price point and a wide range in the early stages. At that time, DAZN was positioned as the Netflix of sport.”

Mascia continued: “But times have changed. DAZN has grown and Sky is no longer a monopolist in the sports sector. DAZN now offers the best premium sport in one place. This must also be reflected in our price. In the end, what applies to every start-up applies to us: Profitability counts.”
