Augusto Pinochet is a vampire and you need an accountant to fix your numbers. That’s part of the plot Count, a film by Chilean Pablo Larrraín that just been awarded for her screenplay at the 80th Venice Film Festival. The recognition takes on greater weight a few days before the 50th anniversary of the military coup in Chile.

Larraín was the only Latin director in competition for the Golden Lion this year and regarding his film he said that he chose to portray Pinochet as a vampire in order to show his impunity and his shadowy presence in the collective memory.
The film can be seen on Netflix starting September 15. It was produced by Juan de Dios Larraín, through Fácula, the Chilean production company founded by the two brothers to develop productions for film and television.
Fácula was behind Larraín’s films filmed in Chile such as the acclaimed a fantastic woman, directed by Sebastián Lelio; and the biopics Spencer (with Kristen Stewart) and Jackie (con Natalie Portman).
