At the end of play on the third day of the Galle Test, Sri Lanka scored 14 runs without losing a wicket in their second innings, needing 135 more runs to end Pakistan’s lead.
Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne with 6 runs and Nishan Madushka with 8 runs will open the fourth day’s play.
On the third day of the first Test match of the series being played in Galle, Pakistan started the innings with 221 runs at the loss of five wickets, but Agha Salman returned to the pavilion following scoring 83 runs on a total score of 278. He and Saud Shakeel scored 177 runs together. Established partnership and strengthened Pakistan’s position.

Among other players, Nauman Ali scored 25 runs, Shaheen Shah Afridi scored 9 runs and Naseem Shah scored 5 runs. Saud Shakeel scored 197 runs. While for Sri Lanka, Ramesh Mendis took 4 wickets, Prabhat Jayasuriya 3 wickets and Vishwa Fernando took one wicket.
Second day
On the second day, Pakistan’s top order proved to be a wall of sand in front of the Sri Lankan bowlers and half the team was dismissed for a total score of 101. .
When the game started on the second day, Sri Lanka increased the score by 70 runs. He scored 122 runs with the help of 12 fours and 3 sixes.
Apart from Shaheen Shah Afridi, who returned to Test cricket following a year, Naseem Shah and Abrar Ahmed took 3, 3 wickets while Agha Salman took one wicket.
Pakistan made a disappointing start to the innings once morest Sri Lanka, Imam-ul-Haq scored one, Abdullah Shafiq scored 19, captain Babar Azam scored 13 and Sarfaraz Ahmed scored only 17 runs. Only Shaun Masood managed to score a slightly better score of 39 runs. Later Saud Shakeel and Agha Salman showed good batting.
First day
Sri Lanka scored 226 runs for the loss of 5 wickets till the lunch break in the Galle Test match once morest Pakistan.
In the first Test, the Sri Lankan captain won the toss and decided to bat first, but opener Nishan Madhishka was dismissed for 4 runs for 6.
Former captain Angelo Mathews and Dhananjaya De Silva put on a partnership of 131 runs and took the team out of trouble, but Mathews scored 64 runs and fell victim to Abrar Ahmed.
Sri Lanka scored a total of 242 runs for the loss of 5 wickets on the first day while the game was also stopped due to rain.
The second match of the two-match Test series will begin on July 24 in Colombo.
