Some of you may already know David Stockenreitner from the Praterstern a few weeks ago or his countless performances in Austria in recent years. David, who was born in Villach, likes to illuminate his homeland of Carinthia with black humor, himself as a man from the country and also processes his physical handicap with clever and sometimes a bit overwhelming punch lines – but that’s all part of it. Again and once more, his audience finds himself in situations where he thinks: “May I laugh now?” The answer is: Yes. Because David is often just damn funny.

David Stockenreitner, who now lives in Vienna, is a full-time comedian and has already won numerous awards. In 2012 he started his first attempts at cabaret: initially in the Viennese English stand-up scene, which was developing at the time, and a short time later also in German-speaking cabaret.

On his Website one finds an “embellished” biography of David’s life up to now and regarding his disability. It says that he was “born two months early – so not quite al dente. This is still evident today in the form of a poorly functioning left leg and an even less functional right arm – popularly known as a “disability”. So the decision to spend another two weeks in the incubator was relatively easy. This phase of his life is now known as “postnatal squatting”. In the incubator, David wrote his first texts regarding the cramped living conditions of the working class.”

On April 14th, David Stockenreitner celebrates the preview of his new piece “El Disablo” at the Klagenfurt Volxhauson April 19th the premiere will finally follow Theater am Alsergrund in Vienna.

In the FM4 Happy Hour show, we present the young, alternative and diverse comedy scene from Austria – every Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Radio FM4.
