David Reinbacher has now finished his stay at the Canadiens camp. After his second preseason game against the Maple Leafs, the fifth pick in the last draft learned that he would continue his development in the Swiss National League in Kloten.

Jeff Gorton, CH’s vice-president of hockey operations, had already discussed the plan with his young defender during the team’s golf tournament on September 11. Gorton had said he expected Reinbacher to play another season in Kloten.

The CH did not deviate from its plan. Despite a good game against the Maple Leafs, the young 18-year-old defenseman will not get another audition.

On the right flank at the blue line, the Habs don’t have a ton of ammunition. David Savard and Johnathan Kovacevic are the first two right-handers. After them, there is Justin Barron, Gustav Lindström and Chris Wideman. Barron hasn’t had a great camp so far, Lindstrom hasn’t wowed anyone in his only meeting and Wideman is out with a back injury.

Jordan Harris, a left-hander, can also play on the right side.

Farrell and Trudeau in Laval

Kent Hughes and Gorton cut four more players after the 3-1 loss to the Leafs. Forwards Sean Farrell and Riley Kidney, defenseman William Trudeau and goalie Jakub Dobes will report to the Laval Rocket camp.
