Victorious over Botic van de Zandschulp, whom he met for the first time, David Goffin advanced to the round of 16 of the Madrid Masters. Master of his subject, the Liégeois easily won in two rounds. Admittedly, the Dutchman was less to his advantage than last week, following which he was finally forced to retire in the final in Munich, but that does not detract from the success of the Belgian n°1.
