Dave Grohl covers Blood, Sweat & Tears’ “Spinning Wheel” and begins his most musical period of the year – Up to date

Dave Grohl, Greg Kurstin and the director Judd Apatow have shared their own version of the “Spinning Wheel” de Blood, Sweat & Tearsoriginally from 1968.

Apatow does vocals on the song, with Grohl on drums and Kurstin on keyboards. The version was inspired by a karaoke night the director spent in Hawaii with Grohl’s family.

This is the first installment of the 2022 Hannukkah Sessions, a project dedicated to Jewish musicians that is celebrating its third edition. This is the first time that the songs have been recorded with a live audience, with the duo being accompanied by Beck, Pink, Jack Black (Tenacious D) y Karen O. de las Yeah Yeah Yeahs. All this was recorded on December 5 in Los Angeles.

“This project, which initially started as a silly idea, grew to represent something much more important to me”Grohl, who is not Jewish, explained at the end of the 2020 Hannukah Sessions series. “It showed me that the simple gesture of spreading love, joy and happiness goes a long way.”

Blood Sweat & Tears founder Steve Katz became famous for the all-Jewish band The Blues Project. “We never got together because we were all Jews. I guess it happened because there were a lot of Jewish musicians in New York.”

In 1968, Katz and Al Kooper left the project to start Blood, Sweat & Tears. The band also included Randy Brecker, Bobby Colomby y Fred Lipsius. After the group failed to achieve commercial success, both Brecker and Kooper left the band due to creative differences.
