Daughter who donated kidney to her father was discharged from hospital

Asuncion, IP Agency.- In an emotional act of love and solidarity, Luis Arístides Bogado Martínez, 65, was discharged from the Area 2 Hospital in Ciudad del Este, after receiving a kidney donated by his own daughter. This is a great event in Alto Paraná, highlighting the importance of teamwork and cooperation between various health institutions.

The successful procedure was performed by a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, urologists, nephrologists, and other professionals from the Institute of Ablation and Transplantation (INAT) of Asunción and the Tesãi Foundation, with the support of the Tenth Health Region, Itaipu Binacional, and the Ministry of Health.

This joint effort allowed the transplant to be carried out at the Area 2 Hospital in Ciudad del Este, thanks to a plan to decentralize health services, the health ministry reported.

The head of the Nephrology Service at the Tesãi Foundation, Dr. Lourdes Ayala, explained that the patient, who had been suffering from chronic kidney failure since 2019, now has a creatinine of 1.1, indicating normal kidney function after the transplant.

“From a creatinine of 16, it is now at 1.1, the blood is completely clean, filtered, 100 percent good,” said Ayala, highlighting the success of the procedure.

Marie Monserrath, who donated a kidney to her father, expressed her gratitude to the medical team: “We have been in this process for a while now, we have fulfilled this great dream. I went into the operating room trusting in God and I know that he was in the best medical hands, it is the best result we could have had.”

The director of the Tenth Health Region, Dr. Noelia Torres, highlighted the inter-institutional cooperation that made this transplant possible. “It is a wonderful act of love, through this cooperation, we are going to reach many compatriots. What was once a dream is now a beautiful reality,” said Torres.

Executive Manager, Dr. Fernando Bittinger, highlighted the National Government’s commitment to improving people’s quality of life. “Itaipu Binacional’s support to the Ministry of Public Health allows us to transform people’s lives, with a better quality of life, future and well-being,” he said.

This transplant not only represents an act of unconditional love from a daughter to her father, but is also a reminder of the power of teamwork and collaboration between institutions. Society is urged to consider organ donation as a supreme gesture of love that can transform lives and give hope to those who need it most.
