Dates set for formalizing the Democratic candidacy

The Democratic Party will choose its candidate for the US presidential elections in the first week of Augustannounced the president of the Democratic National Committee, Jaime Harrison.

According to Harrison, via a conference call with American media, the nomination process will take place between August 1 and 7, depending on the number of candidates who qualify to run.

The formal date for the Democratic nomination comes after it was announced that Kamala Harris will have the necessary number of candidates to secure the nomination, according to California Congressman Robert Garcia.

“California just voted unanimously to nominate Kamala Harris for President! Our delegates have put the Vice President over the required number she needs to be our nominee for the convention!”Garcia wrote on his X account.

To win the nomination in the first round of voting, a candidate will need the support of at least 1,976 delegates out of a total of 4,000. If the nomination takes place in early August, the Democratic convention will still be held between August 19 and 22 in Chicago.
