Barter market: an initiative to improve the environment

How does the barter market work?
From one kilo of waste and a maximum of five kilograms of products per person is admitted. These can be glass, pet, electronics that you no longer use, paper and cardboard; cans, tetrapack, aluminum, and iron. The waste must be separated, crushed (in the case of cans and pet) and clean.
The SEDEMA staff will weigh your waste and according to the weight they will give you green points, which serve as a voucher to exchange them for vegetables, fruits, plants and some foods. On the official website of the Ministry of the Environment they explain that the products you exchange will not go to dumps, landfills, sewers, rivers or seas. On the contrary, they will be recycled.
They also have a stand for you to recycle the cooking oil that you no longer use, this is sent to the recycling plant located in the Central de Abastos in Iztapalapa and becomes biofuel, so the water is not contaminated, since, is thrown into the drain.
