On February 22, Colombia will experience a new day of demonstrations, this time the strike is called by the taxi drivers’ union, as they assure that the National Government has breached the agreements. In this sense, taxi drivers will take to the streets in a large part of the country.
At the moment it is known that the strike will be felt in the following cities, as the taxi drivers have assured that they will go out to demonstrate their discontent: Cúcuta, Palmira, Montería, Pereira, Manizales, Cali, Bucaramanga, Ibagué, Pasto, Villavicencio, Yumbo, Tunja, Sincelejo, Yopal, Neiva and Choco.

Although it has been indicated that the strike will take place from zero hours on February 22, it has also been stated that it can be extended if the taxi drivers do not receive a response from the Government. In this sense, it could last at least until February 24.

Through a statement they indicated that the discomfort with the current mandate is due to non-compliance with the agreements and commitments that have been reached for several administrations. “The lack of commitment on the part of the National Government, the municipal mayor’s offices and the mobility secretariats in response to the requests made for several years has been evidenced, but since 2022 our difficulties have increased,” the union’s statement read. of taxi drivers.
