Dr. Ali Abdel Mohsen, head of the economic sector at the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, revealed the date of the decline in agricultural commodities in the markets, especially following the significant increase witnessed in important commodities such as tomatoes, onions, carrots, potatoes, and some types of vegetables.
Abdel Mohsen said during statements to Cairo 24 that agricultural commodities will decrease significantly within 17 days, that is, at the beginning of next October, stressing that the increase came due to the change in prices between summer and winter.
The date of decline in agricultural commodities in the markets
The head of the economic sector at the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation confirmed that all agricultural commodities that witnessed a jump in prices in the past period will decrease and return to their normal status and price as soon as the new crop is available, saying: What is happening currently is normal because of the large demand, and despite the large demand, the goods are available in the markets in large quantities and there are no Shortage of any commodity.
Abdul Mohsen pointed out the increase in agricultural areas this season, which raised the country’s productivity of all crops and achieved self-sufficiency in all agricultural commodities.
Earlier, during its meeting yesterday, headed by Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Council of Ministers agreed to stop the export of onions for a period of 3 months, ending at the end of this year, within the framework of controlling prices in the markets.
For its part, the Ministry of Agriculture confirmed, in response to stopping the export of onions, that the state will take other similar decisions regarding other strategically important commodities to stop their export in the event of monopolistic practices or attempts by some merchants to store them and manipulate prices.
