A comet called the “Devil” is regarding to pass near our planet in 2024, an event that is already attracting the attention of experts and lovers of astronomical events.
Roberto Schöngarth Carías, national director of scientific research and astronomy at Western International School, told LA PRENSA that this phenomenon will be visible to the naked eye given the proximity it will have to planet Earth.
“The Devil is a comet, it is a body that will be in space and that is composed of rock and ice and that orbits in the solar system, but as it approaches the sun it dissolves,” said Carias.
The expert explained that this comet is called the “Devil” because in its deployment two types of chubs will appear near the sun.
“Scientifically, this comet is called 12P/Pons Brooks”, and its size in diameter is approximately 34 kilometers, and it takes 71 years to go around the sun,” he specified.
Likewise, Carias reported that this event will occur on April 21 and will pass close by the Earth on June 2 at a distance of approximately 232 million kilometers and might be seen with binoculars.
“This comet has already been observed by the Chinese in the year 1385 and in 1437; also, in the year 1884.
The Astronomy expert pointed out that the comet “Diablo” will pass once more at the same distance as in this edition until the year 2095.
