Hospitals have become prime targets for hackers. After Corbeil-Essonnes this fall or Brest in March, this time it is the Rennes University Hospital which is targeted by a cyberattack. The alert was given at the end of the day on Wednesday with the shutdown of the intranet, messaging services and the hospital center website. In the process, a crisis unit was activated to limit the spread of the attack.

In vain because the hackers managed to exfiltrate data. “The analyzes are in progress to qualify the quantity and the type of data concerned”, indicates the CHU of Rennes. The hospital establishment also specifies that a declaration has been made to the CNIL (National Commission for Computing and Liberties) and that it “will take the necessary measures to warn the persons concerned by this exfiltration of data. »

Patient reception not impacted

After this cyberattack, however, the CHU continues to operate with no impact on patient care. “The emergency reception and the Samu are operating normally, all medical activities and all physical appointments are maintained”, specifies the establishment. Deprived of the Internet, the CHU was however forced to interrupt remote medical imaging consultations, tele-expertise, teleconsultation and all communication by email.

By the time the cyberattack is resolved, the Rennes hospital invites patients “to call to make an appointment”, to “bring cash or a check to pay for treatment, payment by credit card no longer being possible” and to bring a paper version of the medical results in case of an appointment.
