PT Data Lake Indonesia announced its collaboration with Starlink as an official partner in Indonesia. With this collaboration, the people of the country will have the convenience of having Starlink devices as a high-speed internet service throughout the country.
CEO of PT Data Lake Indonesia Joshua Yaury said the official partnership is a form of the company’s commitment to making it easier for people to obtain an optimal digital experience.
“With Starlink, internet connection is no longer an obstacle for most Indonesians, both in remote areas where internet services are difficult to reach, and in urban areas that already have internet access but the speed is low and often disconnected,” said Joshua in a written statement, Monday (12/8).
According to the latest data from the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII), around 20% of Indonesia’s territory still experiences limitations in high-quality internet access. Internet speeds in some remote areas are often far below global standards.
In a 2023 study by Ookla, the average internet download speed in Indonesia was recorded at only around 25 Mbps, far below the standards of developed countries. In rural areas and areas outside Java, the speed figures are often lower, and connectivity is often intermittent.
Starlink products are available for purchase directly at Hypermart stores, and in the first phase, Starlink products can be found at six stores, namely Hypermart Puri Indah, Hypermart Supermall Karawaci, Hypermart Villa Melati Mas, Hypermart Mal Lippo Cikarang, Hypermart Cibubur Junction and Hypermart Supermall Pakuwon Indah Surabaya. In addition, consumers can also get Starlink products online through the Lazada eCommerce platform.
“Affordable internet access has become a basic need in the digital era. This collaboration is one of our strategies in improving the company’s business to provide complete products, faster solutions and better services for our customers,” said Jerry Goei, Deputy CEO of PT Matahari Putra Prima as the holding company of Hypermart.
In the first sale, consumers can buy Starlink products at a promotional price of Rp3,900,000, compared to the normal price of Rp7,800,000. This offer provides an opportunity for customers to get advanced satellite internet technology at a more affordable price. (Z-11)
