Data from 250 million Deezer users released

Data from almost 250 million users of music streaming platform Deezer was leaked to the web in December by a hacker.

The email addresses, dates of birth or geolocation data come from a leak dating from 2019.

According to the specialized site Zataz, the hacker would have had access to a lot of private information from subscribers to the music platform.

More than 260 gigabytes (GB) of data were allegedly stolen in total.

The 2019 leak is believed to be due to a misconfiguration of Deezer’s storage system provider at the time. A supplier with whom the platform stopped working in 2020.
