Data.ai Report: French Mobile Usage Stable, Global Average Over 5 Hours

The annual report published by Data.ai indicates that the number of hours spent by French people consulting their mobile remains stable compared to last year.

It’s no secret that smartphone screens can monopolize the attention of their users for long periods of time. Like every year, the Data.ai company published its annual report on mobile use around the world. The document, rich in lessons, looked at the number of hours that smartphone users spend depending on their geographic location.

Data.ai reveals that for the year 2023, French people spent 3.6 hours per day using their mobile device. A figure down slightly compared to 2022 (3.9 hours) and comparable to that of our European neighbors such as Spain (3.6 hours), Germany (3.4 hours) and Italy (3. 7 hours).

A global average of over 5 hours of use

However, this is half as much as Indonesia, whose inhabitants hold the Palme d’Or in the category with an average consumption estimated at more than 6 hours per day. In this register, they are followed by the Thais (5.6 hours) and the Argentinians (5.3 hours).

Across all of the ten largest markets studied by Data.ai, users spend an average of more than 5 hours each day with their eyes glued to their smartphone. A figure up 6% compared to 2022.

Japan, Australia and Canada are the three countries where time spent in front of a mobile phone has increased the fastest since 2020 with 18%, 16% and 16%.
