On behalf of the French, German and Spanish governments, the Direction Générale de l’Armement (DGA) has awarded Dassault Aviation, Airbus, Indra, Eumet and their industrial partners the contract for the Phase 1B Demonstrator of the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) .
This historic contract, worth 3.2 billion euros, will cover work on the SCAF demonstrator and its components for around 3.5 years.
The discussions held over the past few months have created a solid basis for cooperation between the industry and the 3 governments. This market notification follows the signing of industrial agreements between Airbus, Dassault Aviation, Indra and Eumet as program prime contractors and their three European industrial partners. It is continuing research and development activities for phase 1A demonstrators. This phase 1B will make it possible to continue the development and maturation of the advanced technologies necessary for the project.
The program is composed of a set of systems; next-gen fighters teaming up with remote carriers and connected through a combat cloud.
Flight demonstrations are expected by 2028-2029.
