Gary Anderson was eliminated in the round of 16 at the Darts World Cup in London. The two-time world champion from Scotland lost 3-4 to Northern Irishman Brendan Dolan in a thriller.

After a desolate start, the “Flying Scotsman” was initially down 0-2 sets, but then turned the match around and led 3-2. But Dolan stayed cool, equalized and prevailed 3-1 in the seventh and all-deciding set.
Dolan played a better average than Anderson (94.01 to 93.38 points) and was clearly ahead, especially in terms of checkout rate (43.2 to 31.6 percent). In the round of the last eight, Dolan will face 16-year-old Englishman Luke Littler, who beat Raymond van Barneveld 4-1 in the generational duel.
Co-favorite Luke Humphries is also still there. After being down 0:2 and 2:3, the Englishman dramatically defeated his compatriot Joe Cullen 4:3.
“Cool Hand Luke” turned around a 0-2 leg deficit in the all-deciding set, missed eight match darts in the ninth leg and finally won the decider 6-5. Cullen missed two match darts in the fourth leg of the final round.
Darts World Cup: Rob Cross is in the quarter-finals
Rob Cross can continue to dream of his second title. The Englishman easily defeated number nine seeded Welshman Jonny Clayton 4-0 in the followingnoon session of the round of 16. In the round of the last eight, the 2018 world champion will meet his compatriot Chris Dobey on New Year’s Day, who clearly defeated defending champion Michael Smith on Friday.
In addition to Cross, the Englishmen Scott Williams and Dave Chisnall Englishmen also reached the quarter-finals at the home game in the “Ally Pally”.
Williams, who had beaten Martin Schindler in a dramatic match the previous round, won 4-1 once morest Australian Damon Heta. Chisnall won 4-2 once morest Northern Irishman Daryl Gurney. Number eleven on the seeding list defeated Gabriel Clemens in the third round.
