Darkness in the Aisles: How Taiba’s Sinister Scheme Targeted the Heart of Tel Aviv

The beginning of the security affair, with the arrest of the leaders of the infrastructure – Mahmoud Azam and Ibrahim Sheik Youssef, residents of Tayba, who hold the ideology of the terrorist organization ISIS, when with the development of the integrated investigation it emerged that the two were involved in the intentions of going to a fighting arena of ISIS abroad and had contacts with ISIS elements Strangers.

It was also revealed that three more residents of Taiba were recruited into the infrastructure: Sajd Mazarwa, Abdullah Bransi and Abdel Karim Bransi, in order to promote terrorist activity in Israel. At the end of the collection of evidence, the Gideon unit in Lahav 433 together with the policemen of the Taiba station arrested the five suspects and they were also caught in their possession of various weapons.

Meanwhile, in their investigation, it emerged that the suspects had watched online videos of incendiary attacks in Syria and discussed the amount of explosives required to bring down the Azrieli towers. It should be emphasized that the infrastructure was exposed and thwarted in the first stages of its implementation.

The General Security Service and the police emphasize that this is an unusual and dangerous organization of Israeli citizens, who joined together to promote serious security activity against the State of Israel and its citizens in the name of Daesh ideology. The plan of the infrastructure was thwarted by the Shin Bet and the Israel Police following precise and effective intelligence activity.

Chief of Police Yair Hatzroni stated that “this is a serious security issue and thanks to an integrated and professional investigation by the police and Shin Bet we prevented a major disaster and saved lives. We view with extreme severity any intention of parties with an extreme ideology to promote security activity and therefore, we will continue to act resolutely accordingly to the authority given to us by law and to take full force with the means at our disposal, in order to thwart ahead of time intentions to harm the security of the State of Israel and its citizens.”

As mentioned, in accordance with the evidentiary infrastructure formed in the investigation, a prosecutor’s statement was submitted to the High Court against the suspects and in the coming days a serious indictment will be filed against them on suspicion of security offenses.
