After the great sold out success of “Under the Stars” in Greece and abroad, Artemis Grybla, Lila Baklesi and Konstantinos Bibis, team up once more to present for the first time to the Greek audience the award-winning work DAPHNI by Raffaella Markos.

A queer tale of love, acceptance, empowerment and finally… photosynthesis. A story of everything that might have happened differently. A modern thriller, written only in 2022, that interacts with the ancient Greek myth of Daphne and Apollo.

Daphne is a modern woman who hates labels and loves plants. He is trying to survive in the outside world, in this heteronormative world: IN THE WORLD. One night, he falls in love with a woman – a Wonder Woman. And just when she thinks she’s found happiness, a (not so) little secret from her past comes to shake up her relationship and her life.

As the price she pays to be able to keep it a secret grows, her secret weighs on her more and more, wrapping around her like the roots of a tree forcing her to stay still. Her skin is slowly covered with the crust of guilt. And Daphne wants more than anything to throw away a piece of herself. To become everything that is not.

An urban thriller, which deals, with humor and sensitivity, the difficult and lonely road of self-acceptance.

The play was staged for the first time at the Edinburgh Fringe festival winning the “Summerhall Lustrum Award 2022” and at the Soho Theater in London winning the “SoHo Playhouse Medal of Excellence 2022”.
