This is the third season in a row in which Wisła Kraków is trying to return to the Ekstraklasa. After the dismissal of Kazimierz Moskal, the team was taken over by Mariusz Jop. Under his leadership, the 13-time Polish champion looks really solid. On Sunday, Wisła went to Płock to play the match of the 14th round against the local Wisła. Even though the guests played weaker in the second half after James Igbekeme’s red card, they still managed to win 3-1.

Dantesque scenes in Płock. The fans lost their minds
“Wisła Kraków unexpectedly demolished Wis³a P³ock in Sunday’s hit in the first league. Mariusz Jop’s team won 3-1, and the double was scored by hero Angel Rodado. Thus, the Spaniard became the new leader of the scorers’ classification. He and his colleagues proved that they can score goals. , even when playing 10 out of 11 opponents.” – Kacper Ciuksza from Sport.pl wrote about this match.
As agreed TVP Sport some of the fireworks did not explode above the stadium, but in the opposite stands, also near the VIP seats. As a result, some fans literally had to run away from the stadium, fearing for their health. If that wasn’t enough, a child was said to have suffered during the entire incident. – We saw the situation very well. Two adults and one child ran away from the stadium. The child appeared to have burns on his face. They went straight from the stadium to the hospital – says the informant in an interview with the mentioned source.
Thus, an even greater tragedy hung in the balance. What does the president of Wisła Płock, who was also at the facility until the end of the match, say? – I don’t have detailed information about this incident yet. I was sitting in a different area, so I don’t know exactly what happened and I can’t comment on it. If we communicate on this matter, it will be in the coming week, he declared.
On Monday noon, Wisła Płock issued an official statement regarding the entire incident on its website. At the beginning, the club apologized to all fans for what happened at its facility. “The described situation should never have occurred during a football match! As a result, all fans, other match participants and the club itself suffer. Wisła Płock SA, as the organizer of a mass football match event, is aware that the use of pyrotechnic materials during the match is strictly prohibited .The club is therefore threatened with financial penalties and a sanction to play further matches without the participation of the audience,” we read.
Wisła then explained that it wanted to ensure the safety of fans and “strongly condemns any actions violating public order.” Moreover, the club from Płock also decided to temporarily close the ultras stand. “Due to the above, taking into account the overall situation described above and the need to introduce remedial actions for the future, by the club’s decision, the D ORLEN stand of the Kazimierz Górski Stadium will be closed until the end of 2024, i.e. for the matches Wisła Płock – Górnik Łęczna and Wisła Płock – Warta Poznań” – concluded.
Wisła Kraków vs. Wisła Płock: Fireworks, Football, and a Dash of Chaos
This is the third consecutive season that Wisła Kraków is trying to orchestrate a dramatic return to the Ekstraklasa. It’s like watching a soap opera but with more jumping and much less coherent dialogue! Following the dismissal of Kazimierz Moskal, we now have Mariusz Jop at the helm, who, let’s face it, has done a superb job in steering this 13-time Polish champion towards solid performances. The latest episode saw Wisła Kraków out on a jolly trip to Płock to face their local counterparts in a match packed with—or should I say, littered with—fireworks! But more on that later.
Dantesque Scenes in Płock: The Fans Lost Their Minds
“Wisła Kraków unexpectedly demolished Wisła Płock in Sunday’s hit in the first league. Mariusz Jop’s team won 3-1, and the double was scored by hero Angel Rodado.” It’s like the football gods decided to hand out a few plot twists just to keep us on our toes. Kacper Ciuksza from Sport.pl passionately described how this Spaniard turned into the Hercule Poirot of football, scoring goals even whilst his team was down to ten men. That’s right—10 out of 11! If that’s not impressive, what is? I can’t even finish an entire pizza without succumbing to food coma!
But wait, let’s talk about the *real* plot twist of the evening: fireworks that went rogue! As we all know, fireworks and football don’t mix; it’s like putting a lion in a petting zoo. So, some bright spark thought it would be a good idea to launch them in the stands, causing viewers to practically jump out of their seats—only this time it wasn’t due to a witty remark by the commentary team!
Yes, you heard that right! As fans scrambled for cover, a child reportedly suffered burns on their face. Now, *that* is not what you want to see on a Sunday match day. The president of Wisła Płock seems to have taken the same approach as a confused parent at a school play: “I don’t know what happened! I was sitting somewhere else!” Not exactly the heroic response we look for in times of crisis!
By Monday, Wisła Płock released an official apology like a kid caught with their hand in the cookie jar. “We’re really sorry,” the team basically said, “but fireworks using is a bit like trying to enjoy a nice glass of wine at a toddler’s birthday party—just don’t!” The club owns up to the fact that fireworks at football matches should have an expiration date of about never!
Now, let’s be clear: the safety of the fans is paramount. No one wants to leave the stadium with more than just some bruised ego from the rival’s victory. Additionally, they’re closing the ultras stand until the end of 2024. The only thing worse than losing the match? Losing your favorite place to scream, shout, and throw a mini tantrum over a missed penalty!
In summary, while Wisła Kraków showcases determination on the field, it seems that off it, they’re navigating a minefield of pyrotechnics gone awry. One moment, they’re chasing glory; the next, they’re ducking from unexpected explosives! Talk about a rollercoaster ride! Football—the game we love, filled with thrills, spills, and the occasional firework display gone horribly wrong. Remember, folks, keep the fireworks for New Year’s Eve, not for a match at the stadium. That’s what bonfire night is for!
