Dantes Cardosa recalled his time in Group 5, now directed by Christian Yaipén, in an interview with Carlos Orozco. Although he expressed gratitude for his time in the group, he mentioned that he decided to join another cumbia orchestra because he did not feel comfortable being a supporting actor.

“I have been through various groups and we have all sung. “I’m not used to being in the shadows,” said the Cuban, who was also the former vocalist of La Charana Habanera.

Dantes Cardosa emphasized the importance of all members of the group having prominent roles and actively participating in the interpretation and promotion of music.
“If we are a group, we are all going to sing, we are all going to sell ourselves. One person is not going to sing and you are going to be doing choirs. “Everyone manages their orchestra in their own way.”
Dantes explained that he left Grupo 5 on good terms to join Los 5 de Oro, where he received a more favorable offer and although he envisioned his future in the cumbia orchestra, he understood that changes were being considered: “I saw my future in Grupo 5 and continue recording with them. But they were already studying that Christian was going to come and be the leading voice there.”
Dantes Cardosa is not bothered by not appearing in Group 5 videos
Regarding the elimination of his videos with Grupo 5, such as ‘Alimaña’ and Ritmo de mi corazón’, Cardosa stated that he does not feel sorry, but highlighted that many singers have contributed to the growth of the group over time.
“I don’t (feel) pain, but many singers have passed through who have helped the group grow. It’s the first time I see that. In Charanga, my voice and my videos are there,” said the Cuban interpreter.
“I would like people to know what I have been through there. Everyone has their own style of work, but I would like it to be Group 5 from when I was there. That all singers had a song, that they marketed to everyone. Now I see that Christian is in most of the songs, but a group is several voices,” said the Cuban interpreter.

Dantes Cardosa reveals why he left La Charanga Habanera to go to Group 5
In his interview with Orozco, Dantes Cardosa shared that one of the most lucrative contracts of his career was with Grupo 5, unlike his experience in La Charanga Habanera, where, despite his popularity and role as lead vocalist, he did not earn a lot of money.
He stated that, at that time, the singers received around 100 dollars per concert at La Charanga Habanera, while the band charged thousands of dollars per performance.
“Yes, I think so (it was one of the best contracts with Grupo 5) because in Charanga (Habanera), it’s not like I earned a lot of money. We singers can say that we earned, at the time, and I was one of those who earned the most because I was the leading voice. “It was 100 dollars per concert and Charanga Habanera sold 20,000, 25,000 dollars in Peru.”
The Cuban stressed that, although he was the main face of the salsa band, the salary he received did not correspond to his contribution. Therefore, upon receiving the offer from Group 5, he decided to join the orchestra, as it would allow him to earn much more and provide a better quality of life for his family.
“So, one was the face and it didn’t add up (the payments). I always came from a very humble family, since I was a child I went through many jobs. So I liked their proposal (from Group 5) and I said ‘here, I will be able to give more priority to my family, so that they don’t have so much work, I will earn much more.’
