Now “Over the Atlantic” is starting again – and one of the participants is TV chef Dante Zia.

He accepted on the spot – but there were moments during the journey that were downright nasty.

– There was a night when I thought about whether the boat would be broken by the storm.

In the days it was clear that the next group to go on the wave in “Over the Atlantic” under the skipper Coo Krantz management is among others Janne Andersson, Filip Lamprecht and Magdalena Forsberg.

Someone who has already completed the 17-day journey is Dante Auntbrother of the artist Oscar Zia and former participant in “Sweden’s Master Chef”. His adventures with Suzanne ReuterAnders “Ankan” Johansson, Clara Henry, Kristoffer Appelquist and Peter Forsberg starts airing on the third of September on Kanal 5 and Max. For him, it was obvious to say yes when he was asked.

– My consequent thinking is not always so good. I don’t think much, so when I was asked, it was just “I’m on!”, says Dante Zia to Aftonbladet.

Wet sheets – and seasickness

When Zia is asked how the sailing was, he takes a deep breath.

– It is a big question, but there are different aspects. The social was ten out of ten. When it comes to the sailing itself, we were out for 17 days and that was perhaps ten days too long. But being forced to be without your phone was one of the best things, to disconnect and be more present. However, there was not much coherent sleep and it was difficult. We slept a maximum of four hours in the stern because you went in watch teams and lying at the front of the bow when it was bobbing and the sheets were wet, that was probably among the worst.

As an onion on the salmon, Dante Zia became seasick, which also affected him negatively.

– I got quite seasick and that made me even more tired. You’re not your best self, but all those starry nights and sunrises and sunsets were magical. It’s something I wish everyone could experience that way. It is still stuck on the retina today.

“Feeled that if the boat breaks now, it’s not great”

Although Zia accepted on her feet, there were moments when it was stormy and nasty.

– There was a night when I thought about whether the boat would be broken by the storm. It felt like a bomb hit and then I felt that if the boat breaks now, it’s not great. But I still got a bit of a bloody tooth. After the trip I went down to France to take a boat safety course in order to work on boats. It would have been fun to do it sometime.

As I said, Dante Zia was in “Sweden’s master chef” a few years ago and he has cooked in “Nyhetsmorgon” and made the TV show “Dante’s Italy” so that he would end up at the pans on the boat was not a high-oddsman.

– In the beginning I was very seasick, but then it got better so the days I could cook were fantastic, I love to cook. I cooked a lot with Suzanne Reuterwe were a good cooking team. She cooks an incredible cake consisting of a butter base with lots of raspberries. It was a crunchy raspberry cake and she calls it the best cake in the world.

– However, everything inside the boat tilted, I have never experienced anything like this. Everything had to be fixed so it was challenging.

Peter Forsberg left the Instagram group

Did you know any of the participants before?

– No, I didn’t. But I pulled together an Instagram group with everyone to start a book circle on the boat. But the first thing that happens is that Peter Forsberg leaves the group. When we confronted Peter about it later, he had no memory of it, haha!

It is crowded on the boat, which requires discipline. We’ve interviewed other ex-participants who testify that squealing can happen if everyone isn’t decent, how was it this time?

– It was probably me who failed at that part. In the men’s room, it was Kristoffer Appelquist who was the orderly one. He was the one who tried to keep us organized, he put pieces of tape where everyone’s hooks were, but I wasn’t the best at following it so I was probably one of the sloppy ones.
