The 84-year-old will not be able to fulfill her obligations for the time being, the royal family announced on Friday. The popular queen, who ruled the Scandinavian country for 52 years, is “doing well considering the circumstances, but she will be on sick leave for a long period of time.”
According to reports, the monarch was taken to hospital on Wednesday evening after a fall. She suffered an injury to her cervical spine and broke her left hand. This is now in plaster. Margrethe II will also have to wear a neck brace for the next few months.
