Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev advanced to the third round of the Masters tournament in Indian Wells.

The 27-year-old Russian, seeded at the tournament under the fifth number, began his performance at the tournament in the second round, where he defeated the American Brandon Nakashima, the 48th racket of the world, with a score of 6:4, 6:3.

His next opponent will be the representative of Belarus Ilya Ivashko.

Two more Russian tennis players also started with the victory in Indian Wells. Andrey Rublev (sixth seed) defeated the Czech Jiri Legechka in the second round – 6:4, 6:2, and Karen Khachanov (13th) was stronger than the German Oscar Otte – 6:3, 6:3. In the third round, Rublev will play with the Frenchman Hugo Humbert, Khachanov – with the Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina (23).

Medvedev is world No. 6 with 18 ATP titles in his career. Over the past three weeks, the Russian has won three tournaments – in Rotterdam, Doha and Dubai. His winning streak reached 15 matches.

The tournament in Indian Wells will end on March 19. The prize fund of the competition is $8.8 million.

The match between Medvedev and Ivashko will take place on March 12. The bookmaker’s office “Fonbet” accepts bets on the victory of the Russian with a coefficient of 1.02, the Belarusian – 13.50.
