Daniel Yule had a great first run in the World Cup slalom in Kitzbühel. Winner twice on the merciless Ganslern, the Valaisan set the second time, 5 hundredths behind the leader, the Swede Kristoffer Jakobsen. Loïc Meillard (6th) and Marc Rochat (8th) will also have a card to play in a second round to follow from 1:30 p.m. on RTS 2.
Yule took full advantage of the racing conditions on an icy surface. The skier from Val Ferret was ultimately only beaten by the surprising Swede. The leader of the discipline and local idol, Manuel Feller (3rd), the German Linus Strasser (4th) and the French Clément Noël (5th) can also fight for a success.
Zenhäusern renonce
Just following these five men, Loïc Meillard and Marc Rochat had a good round. But the Valaisan and the Vaudois are respectively 0”99 and 1”05 behind Jakobsen and seem to have to fight for the podium.
Injured in the back on Saturday due to a wrong move, Ramon Zenhäusern preferred not to start. The Haute-Valais giant recalled on his Instagram page that he had never missed a slalom in his eleven-year career. He hopes to be in the gate in Schladming on Wednesday evening during the traditional night slalom.
