Eight-time race winner and one of F1’s biggest names, Daniel Ricciardo, has terminated his contract with McLaren a year early. He will be off the grid for 2023, but a deal is about to be finalized to keep him somewhat involved in F1 in order to return in 2024.

“I can’t say 100% until things are approved, but it’s definitely the closest thing we have right now. I’m looking forward to that.”
“But if it’s announced, I’m not going to all 24 races, so I’d rather stay on the grid.”
“It’s become clear to me that I still need some time off for myself and I need to step away for a bit, but to some extent I try to be around and stay involved.”
Daniel Ricciardo also opened up about his struggles at McLaren.
“Certainly there were some races where I felt more comfortable,” said Daniel Ricciardo.
“Difficulties, struggles that encouraged me. And suddenly, a week later, we were back where we were. An unknown contradiction made it very tricky, but since the summer vacation, how many I am happy that we had a great race.”
