(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Im Soon-hyeon = Korean player Daniel Kang (USA) took the second place of the season at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship (total prize money of $2.3 million) on the LPGA Tour.

Daniel Kang hit a 7-under 64 with one eagle and five birdies in the third round of the tournament held at the Pinnacle Country Club (par 71, 6,438 yards) in Rogers, Arkansas, USA on the 26th (Korean time).

Daniel Kang, who was tied for second until the 17th hole (par 3), scored a dramatic chip eagle on the last 18th hole (par 5) to tie for first place and advanced to overtime with Ataya Titikun (Thailand).

In the first leg of overtime on the 15th hole (par 3), both players recorded par and might not decide the winner.

Then, in the second game of overtime on the 16th hole (par 4), Daniel Kang failed to putt a birdie and gave the title to the tee who recorded a birdie.

Daniel Kang, who won his sixth career title at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions in the opening game of the 2022 season in January, was aiming for his seventh title in eight months, but had to be content with his second runner-up of the season.

Daniel Kang, who won the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, was runner-up at the Gainbridge LPGA held that same month.

Daniel Kang, who did not compete in the tournament to focus on treatment following being diagnosed with a spinal tumor in June, made a splendid revival by winning the runner-up in a month following returning from the CP Women’s Open last month.
