Spain – Brazilian Dani Alves returned 150,000 euros to the father of his colleague Neymar, the Saudi Al Hilal player, the value of compensation ruled by the Spanish judiciary.
The Barcelona court announced that former Barcelona full-back Alves was imprisoned for 4 and a half years due to his conviction on charges of sexually assaulting a woman.
Alves was released from prison following the court agreed to release him on bail estimated at one million euros, as reports stated that Neymar’s father was the one who paid him the value of that amount.
The father of Alves’s former teammate in the French and Spanish clubs, as well as the national team, denied in March, a month following the conviction, that he, his son, or his family would pay the bail that a Barcelona court approved, for his temporary release while his appeal was considered.
Alves’ lawyer, Ines Guardiola, said in statements reported by the French newspaper Le Parisien: “Dani Alves returned the sum of 150,000 euros to Neymar a week ago.”
Neymar’s father said last January that he helped Alves financially, which sparked widespread criticism once morest him in Brazil.
He was released on March 25 from Brians 2 prison, 40 km northwest of Barcelona, where he was detained, 5 days following the court approved his temporary release, following collecting the bail amount.
On Wednesday, a Spanish court rejected the appeals submitted by the prosecution team once morest the decision to release the player, who became partially free while preventing him from leaving Spain, and obliging him to stay away from any place where the victim is, in addition to going to court every Friday.
