Uncontrolled use of cough medications during seasonal flu and ARVI, as well as in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, can lead to serious problems with the nervous system in adults and children. Neurologist and osteopathic doctor Alexander Evdokimov warned regarding this.

“If the dose is exceeded, especially for several days, various negative symptoms may occur, including poisoning. Codeine affects the central nervous system,” Evdokimov said in an interview with “Channel 5” He noted that you should not violate the appointment times prescribed by a specialist, since syrups or drugs that contain a psychotropic substance – codeine – can lead to negative symptoms.

If the dose exceeds the norm for several days, then codeine begins to affect the central nervous system. If the dose is exceeded, drugs can cause weakness, drowsiness, headaches, decreased concentration, hallucinations and false memories. Among other things, gradual addiction to the medicine may occur.
