Retired Navy physician Dr. Elaine Marty discusses the dangers of a dwindling oxygen supply aboard Titan, and what that might mean for the passengers inside.
“If they’re still alive and we’re looking at the diminished oxygen, the decrease in oxygen getting to the brain and that increase in carbon dioxide is a major panic,” Marty told CNN.
“You feel like your world is closing in on you, it’s like everything is closing in, like you’re in a tunnel. It’s a horrible feeling people have. They feel like they’re dying. They can’t believe they’re losing their lives in such a horrible way.”
The retired Navy doctor confirmed that people in such cases become weaker, noting that they become disoriented and “you lose focus and lose the ability to see. So you lose peripheral vision. It is a horrible way to die.”
