The manufacturer’s warning is not in vain, as eating broken glass and other foreign objects can be very dangerous. In the worst case, this can cause internal injuries and even bleeding, writes produktwarnungen.eu. Nevertheless, there are still recalls every now and then because of foreign bodies, as was recently the case with a piece of Parmesan in which a shard was also found.

Beans might contain broken glass: if you have symptoms following consumption, seek medical help

If you notice a foreign body such as broken glass while eating, you should spit it out immediately. If the foreign body has already been swallowed, laxatives should under no circumstances be taken, reported focus.de. That might actually make the danger worse. Anyone who experiences symptoms such as shortness of breath, nausea, excessive salivation, pain or bleeding following consumption should urgently seek medical help.

Glass splinters can occur, especially with foods that are filled in glass jars. Capers from Netto were recently recalled for this reason.
