HERRING:They have had huge success with the popular Restaurant Abstrakt in Hirtshals. And they have also helped restore the iconic Restaurant Svanelunden in Hjørring.
Therefore, it was also natural that great attention and great expectations followed when the married couple Kamilla and Simon Emil Schiøtt Christensen announced at the beginning of the year that they were to take over the “Hotellet” in Nørregade in Hjørring.
And now the couple is ready with both the opening day and the concept for their new venture – which has been named “Hotellet & Restaurant Konkret”.
– We would like to create a dining house where there is room for everyone. We want to create a place that is a little more down to earth than the other places we have. It must be well-prepared food at reasonable prices – and the atmosphere must be informal, says Simon Emil Schiøtt Christensen.
On the menu card, you can put together your own menu – among four starters, five main courses and three desserts. The starters include, for example, tartare and onion soup, the main courses can be steak béarnaise or fish – while the desserts can be chocolate fondant and lemon tart. In addition to the dishes, you can make various options in the form of snacks, caviar, foie gras – or whatever else you fancy.
Opening reception April 21
It was here last weekend that the keys to the restaurant in Nørregade were handed over. The plan is for everything to be ready for the opening reception on April 21, which will take place between 12 noon and 4 p.m.
– We are really looking forward to opening, because we have been working on this for half a year now. But right now we are of course really busy, and for example I am currently in the middle of making an agreement with a carpenter who will make our bar ready for the guests, says Simon Emil Schiøtt Christensen.
Will do Dangerous Friday
One of the slightly more curious ideas at Restaurant Konkret is the “Dangerous Friday” concept. On the first Friday of every month, the plan is to invite an adult audience to an entertaining and festive evening.
Farlig Friday will start with a good food experience, but then it will also be an evening with live music from 10pm to 1am.
The restaurant itself writes on its website that it will be an evening with “the tones of some of the best local and regional artists. From jazz and blues to rock and pop, there is something for everyone”.
– It’s an evening when we stay open a little longer than usual, and we also put an extra person in the bar so that cocktails, drinks and so on can be served, says Simon Emil Schiøtt Christensen.
– We would like to create a place where it is fun to be for an adult audience, because we actually think that is missing in Hjørring.
– But initially we are just really looking forward to getting started. It will be exciting – among other things because we and the hotel will now also have to operate rooms. It will be a big challenge – and we like that, says Simon Emil Schiøtt Christensen.
