February is approaching, so rumors are rife. Latest customer? D’Angelo Russell, who might be in the sights of the Heat according to Darren Wolfson of KSTP. Info or intox to raise the odds of the leader?
A few weeks before the trade deadline, the temperature is rising.
And D’Angelo Russell, a free agent this summer, will undeniably be one of the players mentioned several times in potential transfers.
Indeed, the Wolves point guard will be free to sign wherever he wants this summer, and it is difficult to read what is going on between the player and his Minnesota franchise. On the one hand, we have no feeling at all that the Wolves want to get high to retain and extend it, and on the other, it is difficult to see how Russell will want to extend the adventure given his situation.
If he is capable of saving hot shots and is very popular in the community, D’Angelo remains in regression compared to his Net years, and all this while his salary increases (33 million this season). Therefore, we are entitled to see any rumors confirmed, such as the latest sent by the highly respected Darren Wolfson on the Wolves side.
“I’m told that the Miami Heat are showing some trade interest, just a little bit, in D’Angelo Russell of the Wolves”

Just a little bit of interest, a very small chouille, just like that?
Logic on many sides. Already, from a Minnesota reporter who sniffs out what is being said around D’Angelo Russell. Then, wording since it is regarding interest and not regarding serious leads. There might therefore have been an exchange without a long discussion taking place. Finally, and as said above, how not to talk regarding D-Lo in a transfer with the Heat?
Miami is on a shy start to the season (15 wins – 15 losses), giving the impression that the Eastern Conference elite is no longer within their reach. If the regular is still long and that the veterans of Erik Spoelstra will wake up at any time, we can only note that the vibes are not ideal for the conference finalist of the last Playoffs. And a little reinforcement, of course, would do them the greatest good to look the roof of the East straight in the eye once more.
D’Angelo Russell is on his shyest averages since 2019 (averaging 17 points and 6 assists), management has changed recently in Minnesota, his contract expires this summer and the last Playoffs showed that his presence on the field might be questioned. Knowing that the Wolves, too, are struggling (14 wins – 15 losses), there is a way to shake up the workforce at the deadline.
Now, what type of contract to put in the balance…? It’s that the friend Russell weighs 33 million, so on the Heat side it would be necessary to part with a Kyle Lowry (29 million, difficult to envisage and not sure of winning there), or else a doublet Duncan Robinson – Victor Oladipo ( 29 million to two). Rather complex as a mechanism, but we know that formulas with 3 or 4 teams can also take place.
In the meantime, one thing is certain: it is not tomorrow that the rumors will calm down around D’Angelo Russell, and it is not tomorrow either that the Heat and the Wolves will find themselves on the podium of their conference. We are therefore monitoring the file, while waiting for the next update.
