(Alliance News) – d’Amico International Shipping SA revealed on Tuesday that its operating subsidiary of Amico Tankers DAC has exercised its option to purchase under the bareboat charter agreement for the MT High Trust, a ” MR” of 49,990 deadweight tons built in January 2016 by Hyundai-Mipo of South Korea at its Vinashin shipyard in Vietnam for approximately $22.2 million.
It is expected, the company adds, that d’Amico Tankers will acquire full ownership of the vessel in mid-July 2023 and the final purchase price may vary slightly depending on the actual delivery date of the vessel.
To date, the DIS fleet comprises 36 double-hull tankers, with an average age of approximately 7.9 years for both owned and bareboat chartered vessels.
Paolo d’Amico, President and CEO of d’Amico International Shipping, said: “I am pleased to announce the exercise of this additional purchase option on one of our bareboat charter vessels. This transaction allows us to allows us to buy back a modern and ‘Eco’ vessel of high technical quality, built in 2016, and which we had sold and leased in 2018. In line with the other purchase options we have exercised in recent months, we intend to leave this ship debt-free, at least for now, to further reduce DIS’s leverage and break-even point.”
Amico International Shipping shares are trading in the red by 1.2% at EUR 0.40 per share.
