US film production company files lawsuit against game developer Star Blade Shift Up and Sony Korea for damage and theft.
According to a report published on the website Welcome to IGN Film production company owner Griffith Chambers-Mahaffey filed suit against the game developer and Sony in Louisiana last month, claiming that Stellar Blade had damaged his own business and also alleging trademark infringement.
Mahaffey claims that it is now difficult for people to find his works online and use search engines to find them. This is because the game name with the same name as his company “Stellarblade” has begun to steal people’s attention and attention from his brand.
Mahaffey said he has begun preparing a legal team to lead the lawsuit against Sony and the Korean game developer. If he wins the lawsuit, Mahaffey will successfully obtain financial compensation and bear all litigation costs, and prevent Sony and Shift Up Studio from using the Stellar Blade name in the future.
What’s more, if he wins, he also wants Sony and Shift Up to hand over all the material with the “Star Blade” name on it that the two companies own so that he can destroy them once and for all.
The request comes amid rumors that a South Korean developer is working on the second part of the game, as work is believed to have already begun with the full support of Sony.
The fate of the lawsuit is impossible to predict right now, but it will be an interesting matchup for this small company against two of the biggest names in the video game industry.
