DALLAS Mavericks have given a long-term contract to coach Jason Kidd, Monday (6/5), making it certain that the former NBA basketball player will not be among the candidates for coach of the Los Angeles Lakers.

The 51-year-old coach led the Mavericks to a 140-106 win-loss record over 3 seasons and 13-11 in the playoffs, including qualifying for the second round of the NBA playoffs this season once morest the Oklahoma City Thunder.

During his 19 seasons playing in the NBA, the point guard led the Mavericks to become champions in 2011.

Kidd was also part of the United States (US) national team which won gold medals at the 2000 and 2008 Olympics.

“We are thrilled that Kidd will continue to lead our team into the future with this contract extension,” said Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont.

“Kidd led our team to two playoff runs in three seasons and we can’t wait to see him continue to build this team into a strong team in the NBA,” he continued.
