DAKATA | FranceTvPro.fr

The next edition of Dakata, broadcast on Thursday June 30 at 8 p.m. on NC La 1ère, will be devoted to lung diseases (and in particular cancers). Because in New Caledonia, lung cancer is the leading cause of death. In both men and women.

Tobacco is responsible for more than 85% of lung cancers. Passive smoking, which mainly affects women, such as the companions of heavy smokers and or those exhibited in bars and restaurants (before the ban in these places) would also be involved. According to the latest figures, the number of lung cancers in women has more than doubled in 10 years and among them, 20% are non-smokers. Another striking fact, young people are also increasingly affected and the use of cannabis is responsible in many cases.
Only 7% of these pathologies are currently diagnosed early during screening. However, a simple scan is enough to detect tumors 3 to 4 millimeters in diameter. They are then operable and more easily curable. The survival rate, when the cancer remains localized in the lung, varies from 65 to 80% at 2 years. The other part of the management of this disease remains prevention, that is to say, weaning from tobacco and of course cannabis. Because we will not stop repeating it: many lung cancers are preventable by changing these habits.
On the occasion of the Dakata program devoted to lung diseases, Nathalie Daly will come back to these data which are chilling in the back. She will be accompanied on set by pulmonologist Frédérique Naudin who will shed some light on the matter. In addition, a general practitioner will provide answers to questions regarding other lung diseases such as asthma, bronchiolitis, allergies or various pneumopathies.
