Dakar, 21 (APS) – French justice canceled, on Wednesday, the dismissal order issued in September 2022 in the investigation into the inaction of the French army during the massacres of Bisesero, in the West of Rwanda in June 1994, according to several media sources.
On September 1, 2022, following 17 years of investigation, the magistrates had retained neither “the direct participation of French soldiers in abuses” nor “complicity by aid or assistance to the genocidal forces”, or “by abstention” , recall the same sources.
The Paris Court of Appeal has just canceled this order for a “procedural reason”.
The non-governmental organizations (NGOs) Survie and Ibuka, the International Federation for Human Rights and six survivors accuse the French military-humanitarian operation “Turquoise” and France of “complicity in genocide” for having, according to them, knowingly abandoned the Tutsi refugees in the hills of Bisesero, hundreds of whom had been massacred by the genocidaires from June 27 to 30, 1994.
After the annulment of the dismissal order, the case is sent back to the investigating judges of the crimes once morest humanity pole of the Paris judicial court, who must decide whether the five French general officers involved should be tried or not. .
